Napalm Sunday, a great powerpop band from the Philly area, took I-95north up to the TSC campus to play on the night of May 10, 1990. It was a rainy night and they made sure I knew they drove and did not travel by way of "hydroplane".I asked the band to play on my show because I really liked the demo, but as I listened to the tape, for the first time in nearly 16 years, I remembered just how funny these guys were. I mean it is a great interview. However, after listening to the tape a second time I realized that it may not be all that funny to people that are out of the loop. By "loop" I mean the Philly music scene (circa 1990), so I've included a mini-glossary to help some of you enjoy the spoken portion of the podcast.
By the way, if you live in the Philly area, don’t miss Napalm Sunday’s reunion show at the Grape Streetin Manayunk on January 12th. They’ll be going on early (around 8:15) and playing with Buzz Zeemer who are also reuniting that night. Buzz Zeemer contains all original members of Flight of Mavis, but with Philly legend Tommy Conwell added as a second guitarist.
It’s confusing I know. The bottom line is it’s a must see!

Mini-Glossary for Napalm Sunday interview
Record Cellar - a late great Philly Record Store that, at the time this show was recorded, had recently started a record label. The label continued for years and sadly released its last cd this past December; an awesome 3-disc retrospective of the label titled Town & Country
Flight of Mavis - another great Philly powerpop band that had recently been signed to Record Cellar records; its first act.
Electric Love Muffin - a legendary Philly band that had recently broken up.
Brian – bassplayer for The Electric Love Muffin
The Conrads - a band I played bass for at that time. (You kinda need to know this because at times they decide to interview me)
Les Nesman - a fictional, clueless, Midwestern news reporter on the CBS sitcom, WKRP in Cincinnati
Platoon – Academy Award winning film about the Vietnam conflict
Soul Train & Don Cornelius - a nationally syndicated African-American dance show and its host.
FYI: Napalm Sunday was eventually signed to Record Cellar Records.
